on Jan 18th, 2012Why Migraine Pills Don’t Work, And What to do About It

We all know that pills include side effects. All of the 100+ medications that are getting used for constant headaches prevention (Beta Blockers, Calcium Channel blockers, Antihistamines, Antidepressants, Muscle relaxants, etc) have side effects. Even the apparently mild, over the counter painkillers have a lot of side effects. There is nothing new about that. But that isn’t all… Negative effects are not the problem I want to talk to you about. If constant headaches medication could offer the chance of a permanent constant headaches cure and never having to depend on a bunch of pills every day, I know I would take my chances on the possible side effects. However it doesn’t. It only temporarily relieves the pain and masks the symptoms of a further issue, allowing it to grow and develop and rendering it harder and harder for you to actually address it. I’d like to explain… What you need to do if you are likely to cure any condition is arrive at the root of the disease. If you keep pulling a dandelion out by its leaves, you are not going to get very far. Let’s make use of a common cold for example. When you have a cold and you also go to the doctor complaining in regards to a runny nose, you are likely planning to get an antibiotic plus a nasal decongestant. But what happens once you treat an indication just like a runny nose by taking a decongestant? Well… it certainly decongests you by shutting off the mucus, but why are you experiencing the mucus? Because the body is wanting to wash and wash out the membranes employing a substance called secretory IgA (an extremely strong antibody) to kill the virus. Quite simply, the mucus is your protection mechanism. You will need a constant stream of it in order to eliminate preventing contamination. In virtually all cases, if you treat an indication you are likely to make the condition worse. The symptom will there be as your body’s try to heal itself. Ok, but how about the antibiotic? That will assist, will not it? Well, no. In virtually all cases of an upper respiratory infection, it’s a virus, and the antibiotic can do worse than nothing, because it is going to kill the bacterial flora in the gut and impair the immune system, making the immune system worse. We are breathing viruses every day; at this time we’re breathing viruses, cold viruses and rhinoviruses. So why doesn’t everybody catch a cold tomorrow? It is because the environment. The body has to be receptive to that virus. Only if your immune system is depressed does it allow that virus to take hold. So, the true cause may be the depressed immune system! And, the only real possible complete cure is whatever you have to do so that you can get that immune system ready to go at maximum power. And… in the same way that medication won’t actually cure the cold and won’t ensure it is any harder for you to catch a cold in the future, no constant headaches pills will help you really cure your problem preventing your suffering for good. As counter intuitive since it sounds, what you actually want to do is STOP taking constant headaches pills and begin listening to your system. I’m sure it won’t be easy, but you will never know if your pain is a rebound effect from the pills or a real warning signal, before you stop taking them for a while. If your pain is unbearable you can try slowly taking a more natural approach towards masking the symptoms while lessening the dosage. But should anyone ever want to stop your suffering for good and end your constant headaches forever, you need to unmask the symptoms and look for your root causes.
